Sport & Performance Psychology Consulting Services

I am happy to announce that, beginning in April 2025, I will be offering consultation services in the realm of sport and performance psychology. If you reside in the surrounding Boulder area, I may be capable of providing in-person services before April (please reach out via the Contact tab if this is the case). Otherwise, please check back on the website in April for more information and feel free to reach out if you have any questions before then.

Triathlon Coaching Services

I have now been coaching, in one capacity or another, for over two decades. My first athlete was me. I started triathlon from scratch in the summer of 2000 with essentially zero knowledge about training, conditioning, racing, etc. I didn’t even know that I didn’t know anything. Fortunately a lot of time has passed since then and my passion for learning about the aforementioned topic has never waned. There probably have been very few days in the last 20+ years where I haven’t been trying to seek out more knowledge whether through my own training, reading, listening, chatting, etc.

I do not always think that athletic experience is a good proxy for successful coaching, but I do believe my own journey in sport has given me a broad range of varied experiences. Granted, my athletic pursuits were generally in the scope of Ironman distance racing, but along those lines I know what it’s like to want to just finish an Ironman (first Ironman in 2001 was 12:55 and 1034th place), improve your time in an Ironman, win your age group in an Ironman, try to get top 10 in an Ironman, try to get on the podium in an Ironman, and finally to try and win an Ironman (IM victory in 2014). The primary advantage to this experience as a coach is the empathy it establishes throughout the various levels of athletic progression.

All that being said, I don’t have any secret sauce and if there is anything I can guarantee you is that there is no shortcut to success in endurance athletics. It takes time and work. I will never try to sugar coat that. What I will try to do is to help that journey be enjoyable, challenging and, hopefully, rewarding. The athletes that have had the most success working with me have also stuck around the longest. When someone enjoys the process, the years of work start to string together and eventually the results are indicative of that.

I say all this because I believe that if you are considering working with me, you should consider if you have long term intentions and goals. There are many great coaches that work on shorter timelines than I do and I would not begrudge you for bouncing off this page after this point for that very reason, but if you are interested in progression in terms of years, and not months, then we might be right for one another.

My coaching rates are $600/month billed upfront quarterly*. I do not offer different tiers of coaching with various levels of services or communications restrictions or guidelines. I simply coach someone or I do not.

If you are interested in discussing a potential coaching relationship, please send me a note through the contact link HERE.
